EL Gioielli — La forma come equilibrio
EL Gioielli — Form as Balance
In the work of EL Gioielli, form is never simply an outline. It is a structure: it defines solids and voids, establishes relationships, and creates tension. The jewel emerges from a precise balance between elements that may appear simple, yet gain strength through their relationship with one another.
The geometries are defined and often essential, yet never rigid. A line may be interrupted, a volume may shift the visual center, an element may appear almost suspended. It is within this subtle instability that the jewel acquires movement and ceases to be a purely geometric object.
Color also takes part in the construction. Enamel, glass, dark or luminous surfaces do not function simply as decoration, but introduce pauses, contrasts, and focal points. Color alters the visual weight of the forms and guides the eye through the composition.
The same happens with materials. Brass, bronze, Murano glass, enamel, and pearls retain their distinct identities without seeking uniformity. Their coexistence makes the compositional process visible: each material occupies a precise role and contributes to the overall balance of the piece.
Yet these constructions find their final measure on the body. Once worn, the jewel changes: geometry encounters movement, voids reveal the skin, and the orientation of forms shifts with each gesture. The body is therefore not merely a support, but an active part of the composition.
Looking at a piece by EL Gioielli therefore means observing how a small number of elements can create a complex structure without becoming redundant. It is an exercise in measure: understanding where a form can stop, how much space can be given to emptiness, and how balance and tension can coexist.
